Born in 1974, Stephan Schäfer was appointed Co-CEO of RTL Deutschland in September 2021.
As Co-CEO, he is in charge of RTL Deutschland's content and brands, including all journalistic content. He is responsible for the channel portfolio, audio offerings, marketing, production management and programme acquisition for RTL Deutschland. Stephan has also been Co-Managing Director of ntv since 1 December 2020 and CEO of Hamburg-based publishing house Gruner + Jahr since April 2021, having been a member of the Gruner + Jahr Executive Board since 2013. He is a member of the Bertelsmann Group Management Committee and Chair of the Bertelsmann Content Alliance, which since February 2019 has managed all collaboration between the Group's German content businesses.
Stephan graduated from the Axel Springer School of Journalism and began his career on the politics desk of German daily newspaper Bild. In 2009, he joined Gruner + Jahr as Editor-in-Chief and Publishing Director of among others Schöner Wohnen, Essen & Trinken and Brigitte. In 2013, he took over the position of Chief Product Officer within the Executive Board of Gruner + Jahr. He was appointed Chief Content Officer at RTL Deutschland in February 2019 (then Mediengruppe RTL Deutschland).
Born in Mainz in 1967, Matthias Dang was appointed Co-CEO of RTL Deutschland in September 2021.
In this role, he manages all of the Group's commercial, technological and digital activities. He has served as CEO of the advertising sales house Ad Alliance since January 2017, having held the same role at IP Deutschland from September 2012. He is also a member of the Bertelsmann Group Management Committee.
He studied economics in Mainz from 1989 to 1993, during which time he also worked in the central editorial department of 3sat. In 1993, the business school graduate joined IP Deutschland and took on various marketing roles until 1998, when he was appointed Sales Director. In 2003, he returned to marketing as Director of Operations. Matthias served as Director of Sales Operations from 2004 to 2009 and was also made Deputy Managing Director in October 2009. He was appointed Chief Commercial Technology & Data Officer at RTL Deutschland in February 2019.
Alexander Glatz, born in 1970 in Neustadt (Weinstrasse), was appointed Chief Financial Officer responsible for Legal & Finance of RTL Deutschland in February 2019.
Glatz has been with RTL Deutschland since September 2015 (then Mediengruppe RTL Deutschland). As Chief Financial Officer (CFO) he was initially responsible for the Corporate Planning/Controlling department, covering finance and accounting, financial reporting, payroll accounting and purchasing as well as the Business & Legal Affairs department. In his role as CFO responsible for Legal & Finance he is now additionally responsible for RTL Deutschland mergers & acquisitions.
After completing his Law studies at the University of Constance, Glatz began his career as a sales project manager at Deere & Company in England. After obtaining a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) at the Rotterdam School of Management and now a fully qualified attorney, he moved to RTL Group in 2000, where he held various posts in the Business Development and Controlling department. In 2004, he was appointed Vice President Controlling. In 2010, he became Executive Vice President, Strategy & Controlling, a position he held until his appointment at Mediengruppe RTL Deutschland.
Oliver Radtke, born in 1968 in Crivitz, Germany, is an industrial engineer with an MBA from INSEAD Business School in Fontainebleau, France. His career at Gruner + Jahr started in Controlling in 1955. This was followed by management positions in the central division and in IT. In 2007, he was made Publishing Director of G+J Operations. In 2010, he moved to the DDV Media Group in Dresden as Chairman of the Executive Board for three years. Since 2013, he has steered the transformation process of G+J as Chief Operating Officer and a member of the Executive Board. On 1 September 2021, he was additionally made a member of the Management Board of RTL Deutschland.
