The trend towards accessing media via new platforms such as mobile phones or iPods is on the increase. For this type of viewer who wants to be informed when they are out and about, the Media Group RTL Germany offers some highly attractive services.
The mobile portal mobil.rtl.de, which has developed into one of the most visited entry portals on the mobile web, is constantly adding to its already extensive functionality with specially produced games plus an info and entertainment package from the world of RTL tailored for the mobile user.
With RTL MobileTV, the Media Group RTL Germany is providing its own program service for UMTS-enabled mobile phones. Amongst the broadcasts to be found on the MobileTV channel are popular series such as "Alarm für Cobra 11" and current episodes from popular docusoaps. Popular features on the channel also include the daily broadcast of the successful soap "Alles was zählt" and RTL news formats that have been specially produced for mobile devices. Since March 2008, the digital niche channels RTL Crime, Passion and RTL Living have also been available via Vodafone on UMTS-enabled mobile phones.
Since August 2008, RTL as the first German television station offers a cell phone service, with which it is possible to surf the web free of charge and to telephone at full cost control and low standard prices round-the-clock. RTLmobil customers can use all services within the RTL online portal nationally free of charge, including weather, news, sport and games. On demand, the mobile service provides i.a. weather information, compact and up-to-date video clips of the RTL news magazines, a Formula 1 live ticker, a German Football League results service, information on the daily show "Gute Zeiten, schlechte Zeiten" as well as yahoo's innovative mobile search "oneSearch".
The podcast service from the Media Group RTL Germany ranges from up-to-the-minute news formats such as "RTL Aktuell" or "Der Abend bei n-tv" to magazines such as "Exclusiv" or "Explosiv" and even takes in the daily soap "Gute Zeiten, schlechte Zeiten".
In June 2008, n-tv added a new service to its already extensive mobile package: "SMS Breaking News" alerts subscribers with breaking news about stock market crashes, government resignations or the latest football scores.
With the launch of TOGGO mobile in mid 2007, Super RTL began offering the first mobile phone contract exclusively for children. This is a service that helps the younger age bracket to discover and benefit from the possibilities offered by mobile communication in a package specially designed to meet their needs.
