The Media Group RTL Germany thrives on innovation in production methods and technology as a way of meeting challenges and building long-term success. And always with a clear focus on customer requirements.
Different approaches to the use of media and different platforms, such as TV, PC or mobile devices, demand a corresponding degree of adaptability in both the production process and in the format of technical transmission. The aim is that the content should always reach the recipient – with or without feedback channel, home or away. The content of the Media Group RTL Germany should be available to the viewer whenever, wherever and however he or she chooses to receive it.
For example, 16:9 TV screens have now found acceptance in many of the nations’ living rooms and viewers have made clear their demand for picture quality to be optimized for this format. Since autumn 2008, therefore, the Media Group RTL Germany has been transmitting the whole of its programming for the free-to-air TV channels RTL Television, VOX, RTL II, n-tv and SUPER RTL as well as the digital niche channels RTL Crime, Passion and RTL Living in the 16:9 picture format.
As of Fall 2009, the RTL and VOX programs can additionally be watched in high resolution quality via satellite. The viewers can choose between the new option HD+ by Astra in high resolution, high definition quality and digitally uncoded in PAL adequate quality, or the previous PAL standard reception of the analogue satellite signal.
