Media Group RTL Germany
The Media Group RTL Germany is one of the leading media companies in Germany. Our strong brands reach an audience of approximately 90 million viewers in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. In addition to traditional transmission modes, we also rely on New Media and all the latest broadcasting technologies for distributing our programs.
In addition to its free-to-air channels RTL Television, VOX and n-tv, the company portfolio also includes three digital niche channels: RTL Crime, Passion and RTL Living. RTL Group’s affiliates RTL II and Super RTL are also run from Cologne.
RTL interactive was set up to cover all the interactive and transaction-based operations that fall outside classic TV provision. These include the areas of online, mobile, teletext, added value telephony services (Media Services), merchandising and licensing (RTL Enterprises) as well as computer and video games (RTL Games).
Within the Media Group RTL Germany, there are a number of other important functions fulfilled by the marketing organization IP Deutschland, by the news/magazine company infoNetwork as well as by the broadcasting and production company Cologne Broadcasting Center (CBC).
Regional operators RTL Nord, TELE WEST and RTL Hessen produce various local magazine programs such as "Guten Abend RTL" and also feed reports for the RTL news broadcasts.
Other members of the Media Group RTL Germany include the production companies Norddeich TV and Action Concept, music publishers i 2 i and the RTL school of journalism.
The Media Group RTL Germany belongs to the RTL Group, a Bertelsmann subsidiary which is registered in Luxembourg and is Europe’s leading company in the field of entertainment. Amongst the TV business interests of this largest of all European broadcasters are Groupe M6 in France, Channel Five in the United Kingdom and the RTL stations in Benelux, Croatia and Hungary, as well as Ren TV in Russia and Antena 3 in Spain. The production side of the RTL Group, FremantleMedia, is one of the largest international producers outside the United States. Each year, FremantleMedia produces more than 10,000 hours of programming in 55 different countries.
